News from Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy

There are currently three opportunities for helping out at our local school in various different ways. Please speak to Sally if you can help or would like to know more.

  1. Friends of Tadpole (the parents’ association) have begun a coffee morning with toys for pre-schoolers, on Tuesdays from 9-10:15am, rather like our drop-in at St Francis. Sally goes along sometimes, and it would be great to have other church membershelping out with refreshments, setting up and packing away.
  2. We will be running a prayer space for all the children, with the help of the school, on the morning of 9, 10 and 11 July. We would appreciate volunteers to help the children with the different activities. You only need to sign up for one session.
  3. There is currently a vacancy for one Foundation (church) Governor, and soon there will be two vacancies. It would be great to strengthen our links between church and school even more so, if you can spare the time to be a governor (known as Local Board Member in an Academy, but essentially the same role), please consider if this is right for you.

Supporting young people & our link with Uganda

A group of 15 young people and youth leaders from across the Diocese of Bristol are travelling to Uganda this July to meet and work with other young people in Uganda. The group, who are aged from 15 to 21, come from three different parts of the Diocese: Pinehurst, Swindon; Eastville, Bristol; and Sea Mills, Bristol. If you would like to support them, particularly Tom, Carmella and Sophie from Swindon Academy, in their fundraising activities, please visit: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/UgandaYouthVisit2018

    Growing Leaders and Building Bridges

Diocese of Bristol is running two excellent courses in Swindon this Autumn and it would be very worthwhile considering whether you could benefit from them.

Both courses have a monthly evening session from September to June (Growing Leaders also has two Saturday sessions).

Growing Leaders is a course for leaders, in churches or workplaces, who want to become more confident and better equipped to lead as God would want them to. The introductory session is on Tuesday 5 June, 7:30-9pm, at Toothill Church, SN5 8AH. It will be run by Charles Burgess from CPAS, and Sally.

Bridge Builders is a practical course to help people be better equipped to manage conflict, again both in the church or in your workplace. The introductory session is on Tuesday 19 June, 7:30-9pm, at Toothill Church, SN5 8AH. It will be run by George Rendell and Revd Alice Kemp.

To sign up for either course, please email clive.deverell@btinternet.com, or speak to Sally for more information.

Jumping for Joy?! Sharon Bourne and Harriet Maltby are doing a tandem skydive on Sunday 3 June to raise money for the GWH Brighter Futures Appeal. If you would like to support them and the appeal, please visit their Just Giving pages: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/harriet-maltby1 or https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sharon-bourne71

Hosted by St John’s Haydon Wick.

Summer Social Barbecue at Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy on Sunday 15 July, 5pm (after 4pm All Age Service).

Prayer: Please look out for the new weekly prayer cycle (on orange paper). Please pray too for those being confirmed at St John’s on Thursday 21 June.
