Thank you!

The PCC is really grateful to everyone who gives, whether regularly through a giving scheme, or when convenient in the collection plate, and would like to say thank you very much to those who contribute to God’s work in North Swindon in this way. Letters will be sent to those who Gift Aid their regular giving to St Andrew’s, for their tax records, to remind them of how much they have given over the last financial year and saying thank you for that gift. If you would like information about giving more regularly, please speak to Susan Smith, our treasurer (01793 706970). All giving is confidential and she is the only one who knows what is given.

New Parochial Church Council

At our Annual Parochial Church Meeting, Jennifer Hughes and Tina Thorpe joined our PCC, which also includes Tony Jones, Susan Smith, Frances Grimshaw, Sally Robertson, Dave Templar (Deanery Synod Rep) and Niki Wilding (co-opted as Safeguarding Officer). We do not have any churchwardens for the coming year, which is an unusual situation for a church to be in, but Sally together with the PCC and the deputy wardens will be ensuring things carry on as far as possible. A BIG THANK YOU to Karen Vermeersch, Simon Dabbs and Denise Dabbs for all their work in the past year.

Church Cleaning and Maintenance Day

Saturday 28 April starting at 10am

There are plenty of jobs to do to give St Andrew’s a Spring Clean and get on top of some small maintenance tasks. If you can spare some time on 28 April it would be great to see you and breakfast will be provided. Alternatively, if that day is not convenient, please look out for the list of maintenance jobs to be done and we can arrange for you to have the materials to complete them at your convenience. Please talk to Simon or Karen if you would like to know more.

IGNItE Youth Group

Thy Kingdom Come

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are encouraging us again to pray with Christians all around the world between Ascension Day and Pentecost (10 and 20 May). Events will be happening throughout Swindon Deanery, including 24 hours of prayer at St Mary’s Rodbourne Cheney from 7pm, 11 May to 7pm, 12 May, which everyone is welcome to. St Andrew’s focus will be from 6-8pm on Thursday 17 May when the church will be open for prayer, with different prayer stations and ideas. Do come along and join the global wave of prayer.

Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid Week runs from 13-20 May this year so we will be highlighting the work of Christian Aid in our service on Sunday 13 May. Please consider how much you can contribute to the appeal this year and, if you are not going to be at the service on 13 May, Christian Aid giving envelopes will be available in previous weeks.

Jumping for Joy?!

Sharon Bourne and Harriet Maltby are doing a tandem skydive on Sunday 3 June to raise money for the GWH Brighter Futures Appeal. If you would like to support their bravery/madness and the appeal, please go to their Just Giving pages: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/harriet-maltby1 or https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sharon-bourne71

Deanery Confirmation, Thursday 21 June, 7:30pm

St John’s Haydon Wick will be hosting the next Swindon Confirmation service and we are planning to hold a short course of preparation for anyone who would be interested. Please speak to Sally for more details.

Prayer: With ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ happening in May, why not follow their suggestion of praying for the same 5 people every day in May – that they might come to know Jesus, or know him more fully. Ask God to show you who to pray for and remember them every day.
