Deanery Consultation on New Bishop, 5th October
Following Bishop Mike's retirement, the Diocese is consulting all Deaneries on what we feel we need in the next Bishop of Bristol.  There is an open meeting to learn about the role and process, pray and share your views as part of the consultation in Swindon, Thursday 5th October at Toothill Church.  Refreshments from 7pm for a 7:30pm start.  Sally is going; please speak to her if you would like a lift.

Ride & Stride
In September, Helen Allen took part in the sponsored event in aid of Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust and St Andrew's Church.  Helen walked 16 miles in 6 hours 55 minutes and visited 18 Swindon Churches.  She has raised £70 through Jutgiving.com donations and £55 in pledges from church members (totalling £125 + Gift Aid), which will be split equally between WHCT and St Andrew's.  Please pass on your pledged donations by Sunday 8th October.  "Thanks to all who sponsored me to walk for St Andrew's!"

Deciding St Andrew's Priorities
Following our consultation exercise in August and September, we invite everyone to come and decide the priorities for our congregation in the coming months and years, at church on Monday 16th October at 7:30pm.  Please make an effort to come and be part of this conversation.  Tea and biscuits will be served from 7pm and we will aim to finish by 9pm.

Advance Warning:  November
During November we will be devoting all our services to the topic 'Giving in Grace'.  There will be additional information available so do look out for that towards the end of October.
We will still be having a Remembrance themed service at 10am on 12th November, with an Act of Remembrance at 11am.  It is likely that we will be joined by Brownies and Parish Councillors for this service.
Facebook
If you're a Facebook user, but haven't liked the St Andrew's page, please do so, as we often post useful information and reminders.

Time to help?

At St Andrew's: There are always plenty of jobs to do, so, if you do find you have spare time and would like to be involved in church life in a new way, please speak to Sally, Karen or Simon.  With Christmas approaching, we are particularly aware of the need for good publicity for our Christmas services, so if you feel you could help produce or distribute this, please let us know.

In Schools

Open the Book is a national initiative for teams of lay people to take Bible stories into Primary School Assemblies regularly.  The team has fun rehearsing the stories, making props and communicating the Bible with children.  Christ the Servant is setting up a team from local churches to go into local schools.  The meeting for more information is being rescheduled so speak to Sally if you are interested in finding out more.

In Swindon Law Courts

There are plans to start a chaplaincy in Swindon Law Courts and for volunteers to re-open the cafe there.  If this is something you feel you could help with, see the poster on the noticeboard or contact Martyn Cook, tel: 01793 8225535.  email:  martyn@thecookhouse.org
