Cycle of Prayer for our Parish

RSS

Prayer is important to all Christians and at St Andrew's we are keen to pray for our Parish and the wider world.  Below you'll find our current prayer diary for North Swindon and links to other prayer resources below.

St Andrew North Swindon Weekly Cycle of Prayer Winter 2020

‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’ Philippians 4 verse 6

Please use these suggestions for prayer each day so we can join our prayers for our community together as a congregation.

Monday

Pray for Tadpole Garden Village

  • For the pupils, staff and Governors at Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy – that they would continue to flourish and support one another as they learn together.
  • For William Morris Primary and Great Wester Academy – that staff and pupils would continue to settle in well.
  • For places for the community to meet and grow together and for those who are seeking to build community.
  • For a spiritual heart to develop within the community and for St Andrew’s to know how to encourage that.

Tuesday

Pray for Oakhurst and Redhouse

  • For a sense of community and particularly for good neighbours for those who are lonely
  • For the district centre and all who work there, serving the community
  • For Red Oaks and Oakhurst Primary Schools, Abbey Park Secondary Academy and Brimble Hill and Uplands Special schools – that each community would learn well and be a mutually supportive environment for all pupils and staff
  • For safety for all who live in and travel through the area.

Wednesday

Pray for St Andrew’s Ridge, Ashbrake, Abbey Farm and Blunsdon St Andrew

  • For harmonious neighbourhoods on the new build estates and within existing housing areas.
  • For Ridgeway Rise Care home residents, staff and families, that there would be good support and communication
  • For Bridlewood School, that all staff and pupils would flourish
  • For security for all who work in the local businesses.

Thursday

Pray for any who are worried about their financial circumstances and particularly for those facing loss of employment in the coming year.

Many in Swindon are using this prayer for those working at Honda:

Faithful God,

Your Spirit leads us to dream of a better future for all, empowering us to make it reality; we give thanks for the blessing which Honda has been to Swindon over three decades, including in these difficult days.  We pray for those whose dreams now lie broken and who fear for their future; breath upon us and all who seek the well-being of this town, kindling fresh dreams of deeper and richer blessing.  Inspire each of us to play our part in bringing these to birth; for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Friday

Pray for those we are connected to outside our parish

  • For all who support our parish in the Diocese of Bristol Office, including Bishop Viv, Bishop Lee and Archdeacon Chris.
  • For the congregations of other churches in Swindon, that we might all work well together.
  • For the charities working to help people in Swindon that we would know how to help and support them.
  • For our brothers and sisters in Luweero and Kampala in Uganda – that we might be able mutually to share faith and finances with them

Saturday

Pray for all those who work to make the area a better community

  • For Justin Tomlinson, our MP.
  • For Steve Heyes, Rahul Tarar and Vera Tomlinson local councillors for St Andrew’s ward and Malcom Davies, Emma Faramarzi and Vinny Manro councillors in Priory Vale.
  • For the parish councillors on St Andrew’s and Haydon Wick Parish Councils
  • For the emergency services
  • For all who spend time tidying the environment or making it safer through schemes like neighbourhood watch.

Sunday

Pray for St Andrew’s Church

  • For our reliance on God and our awareness of Him to deepen in 2020.
  • For Sally, Karen and the Parochial Church Council as they find God’s will for us and try to implement it.
  • For God’s presence to be real to everyone who visits St Andrew’s, through his Spirit directly and through the people they meet.
  • For God to provide everything we need, financially and in time and energy too.
