Cycle of Prayer for our Parish

Prayer is important to all Christians and at St Andrew's we are keen to pray for our Parish and the wider world.  Below you'll find our current prayer diary for North Swindon and links to other prayer resources below.

St Andrew North Swindon Weekly Cycle of Prayer Summer 2019

‘Ask and it will be given to you; search and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.’                                                               Luke 11 verse 9

Please use these suggestions for prayer each day so we can join our prayers for our community together as a congregation.

Pray for Tadpole Garden Village

  • For the pupils, staff and Governors at Tadpole Farm CE Primary Academy – for a good rest over the summer and then a positive start to the new school year.
  • For William Morris Primary as it finishes its preparations and gets ready to receive its first pupils
  • For Great Western Academy as it enters its second year and opens the 6th form.
  • For good progress and tenants for the new shopping complex and village centre
  • For residents struggling to get issues with their new homes resolved and the builders building them.

Pray for Oakhurst and Redhouse

  • For a sense of community and neighbourliness
  • For safety on the roads and sensible parking
  • For the businesses and Community centre who serve this area
  • For the schools on the learning campus: for staff and pupils to come back refreshed after the summer
  • For wisdom for those involved in the Community funday to know how to take it forward next year.

Pray for St Andrew’s Ridge, Ashbrake, Abbey Farm and Blunsdon St Andrew

  • For good progress on the redevelopment of the Speedway track and other new estates
  • For community cohesion on the new build estates and existing housing areas.
  • For Ridgeway Rise Care home residents and staff
  • For Bridlewood School, for a successful start to the new academic year
  • For the local businesses, that they would flourish.

Pray for Christians going about their daily life and work around Swindon

  • For courage to speak about our faith when appropriate
  • For wisdom to know how and whether to challenge unethical attitudes and practices in the work place.
  • For the willingness to serve our colleagues and neighbours as Christ serves us.
  • For guidance for those looking for work or new ways of spending their time
  • For openness among those who do not yet know Jesus to want to know more about him.

Pray for those we are connected to outside our parish

  • For all who support our parish in the Diocese of Bristol Office, including Bishop Viv, Bishop Lee and Archdeacon Chris.
  • For the congregations of other churches in Swindon, that we might all work well together.
  • For the charities working to help people in Swindon that we would know how to help and support them.
  • For our brothers and sisters in Luweero and Kampala in Uganda and for a deepening of our links with them when we celebrate 50 years of the link in October.

Pray for all those who work to make the area a better community

  • For Justin Tomlinson, our MP.
  • For Steve Heyes, Rahul Tarar and Vera Tomlinson local councillors for St Andrew’s ward and Malcom Davies, Emma Faramarzi and Vinny Manro.
  • For the parish councillors on St Andrew’s and Haydon Wick Parish Councils
  • For the emergency services
  • For all who care for their local environment and spend time improving it.

Pray for St Andrew’s Church

  • For wisdom for each of us to know how to deepen our faith and reliance on Jesus and how we can support one another in that.
  • For Sally, Karen and the Parochial Church Council as they seek God’s will for us and try to implement it.
  • For everyone who visits us at St Andrew’s or at Tadpole Farm to feel warmly welcomed and connected to God.
  • For guidance for the right format for our meetings in Tadpole Garden Village and how to communicate better with residents.
  • For God to meet all our needs.
