Heritage Open Day

The Story of St Andrew’s

Heritage Open Day 2024 - Saturday 14th September 10am-4pm

On Saturday 14th September, local people of all ages came to enjoy the sunshine in our beautiful churchyard and to hear more about the church's 700 year history, particularly focusing on the rebuilding of the church in the 1860s.

Complimentary tea, coffee and cake were served all day with a simple lunch available from 12-1.30pm. The whole event was free, but donations to church funds amounting to over £400 were gratefully received.

Those attending were fascinated by Paul's talk on the history of the building, Mike on stained glass and how the glass at St Andrew's is surprisingly special and Coral on the events of the opening after the rebuild, including the remarkable poem by a local stone mason involved in the work, John Burton.

Find out more about the story of St Andrew's in our new History section of the website.

Many thanks to PPL PRS for providing The Music Licence enabling us to play atmospheric church music during the event.
