Getting to St Andrew's
We are located in a green oasis off Tadpole Lane in North Swindon, in between Lyall Close and Abbey Caravan Park.
The address is St Andrew's Church, Tadpole Lane, Swindon, SN25 2DW
We have a car park which can accommodate around 10 cars, accessed down a rather bumpy drive. For very busy services it may be necessary to park in nearby Lyall Close.
Accessing the building
There is level access from the car park to the main door of the church on a gravel drive. The main entrance has two steps down - a wheelchair ramp is available on request, but is quite steep, so may need assistance to use. There is a near-level entrance (one low step up) at the right hand side of the church as seen from the front, primarily in use for exit during the Covid pandemic. This is accessed over grass with rubber matting, but is only 64cm wide, so will not accommodate all wheelchairs.
Inside the building
Seating is in pews, with space available for wheelchairs. Communion is either distributed at the altar rail, or on Sundays where required is from the chancel step, which gives level access from all seating. We have gluten free wafers available - please let a sidesperson or the vicar know before the service if you would like to receive them.
We have a hearing loop available.
There is a toilet available in the car park. It is usually kept locked - the key will be on the cupboard by the main entrance - please ask the sidesperson if you need help.
Large print copies of sheets and hymn books are available - please ask as you enter the church.
Our services and events
Services and events are detailed on the home page of the website and our calendar. We have a children's corner and children are welcome at all services. There is a specific children's service at 10am on the first Sunday of the month.
Visits outside of services
Unfortunately we have to keep the church locked most of the time, however we expect to have a number of open mornings, which will be announced on the website. If you would like an individual visit to see inside the church please contact our churchwarden Brian and we can arrange a time to open up for you.
