Funerals

Most funerals tend to take place at the Crematorium (either Kingsdown or North Wilts Crematorium which opened in 2019 near Junction 16.)  However, it is still possible to hold a funeral at St Andrew’s, either before or after a committal at the crematorium or before a burial in the churchyard.  It is also possible to have a memorial service in church on a different occasion.

Sally is always happy to discuss funeral plans in advance and we sometimes run a short discussion course preparing us for death, whatever our age and state of health.  If this is something you’d be interested in, please let Sally know (see contact details).

When you are actually having to arrange a funeral, the funeral director will normally make all the arrangements, according to your wishes or the wishes of the deceased.  If you would like to have the funeral at St Andrew’s, or have Sally to take the service at the crematorium, please let the funeral director know this, as they sometimes find the most convenient minister instead.

If you live in the parish of St Andrew’s or are on the Electoral Roll you are eligible to be buried, or have your ashes buried, in our churchyard.  Other burials are at the discretion of the Parochial Church Council.

During the pandemic, funerals can still take place, but are subject to restrictions - please discuss with the funeral director or Sally.
