Windows Update

Keeping our windows safe

Stained glass windows are easily damaged, so are protected by 'window guards' - either metal grilles or polycarbonate (specialist plastic) sheets. Last year our brilliant team of Mike Snow and Paul Zukiewicz replaced rusting metal on the 'good shepherd and seasons' windows on the south side of the church. Now Mike and Paul have taken off the only-just-translucent guards on two windows on the north side, cleaned the glass and replaced the guards with new, glass-like polycarbonate.

Because the outside is now so clear, you can see curved reflections of the sky and grass behind the photographer.

The result is that the windows look far better from the outside - in the winter with lights on you will be able to see the windows clearly from outside - and they let more light through from the inside.

The 'medieval' window, featuring fragments of pre-reformation glass now looks much brighter from inside the church.

Thanks to Mike and Paul for the many hours of work that went into this improvement.
