If you've been to St Andrew's recently you might have noticed scaffolding up at the west end of the church.
This is because we had a problem with one of our bells, meaning we've only been able to ring one for some time now. During the first two weeks of November, our bell repairer undertook repairs and sprucing up of the bells.
The main problem was with the bigger of the two bells - the left hand one as you look from near the church door. The bar that runs out from the bell and that is connected to the inside of the church by a cable has bent upwards. This means that when the bell is rung, unless it's done very carefully, the rod hits the stonework above.
Now the repairs are complete, we have both bells in action again.
Update - 2 December
We now have two functioning bells and the scaffolding has been taken down. Watch out for news of a small but very useful change inside the church...
